Dr. Vande Hey is native to Northeastern Wisconsin, growing up on her father’s dairy farm where her passion for working with animals was sparked. She moved to Madison for undergraduate and veterinary school and loved every minute in Madison.
While in Madison, Dr. Vande Hey volunteered for the Dane County Humane Society and the feral cat trap-neuter-return programs. She also became involved with veterinary politics, which continues to be an interest of hers.
During her internship, Dr. Vande Hey realized that emergency medicine was what interested her the most. She enjoys the challenge of having to connect quickly with a client under what are often difficult circumstances. She believes in the value of combining excellent veterinary care with compassion and patience and finds it rewarding to see what a difference it makes for clients who are navigating an emotional and stressful experience.
In her free time, Dr. Vande Hey enjoys running, hiking, horseback riding, camping, fishing/boating, and spending time with her big goofy Catahoula mix, Gus. She also has two loving cats.
